Can a transfer psychology major change their major to biology at UC Berkeley?

I'm a community college student looking to transfer to UCB. I'm done with the psychology requirements, but I want to go to medical school and I think biology would be a better major.

Is it possible to transfer into UCB now as a psychology major and then change to a biology major?

You could do that, but psych is just fine if you want to go pre-med. All you have to do is take the pre-med pre-reqs. If you really wanted to get crafty, you could create a biopsychology major via the Interdisciplinary Studies Department.

Speaking from experience, you need to be very competitive and studious if you want to study molecular cell biology at Cal. That's a common pre-med major, and it really wrecked my career. I'm a bright gal, but I couldn't ace those classes. integrative biology is a better track, and you can focus more on physiology (if that's your thing -- it's mine, and I sure wish I'd have done it), than just molecular.

btw, we call it Cal, not UCB.
