Hi all. Thanks for looking at my question. I am reentering the Accounting field after a two-year break. I understand there are some major changes for tax year 2008 and beyond.
Can someone give me a basic description of the major changes?
What professional publications do you recommend I read/subscribe to in order to update myself on the changes in preparing individual and business income taxes this season?
Thanks and have a great day.
What are the major changes in tax law for 2008?
Look at %26quot;what's new%26quot; at the beginning of each numbered section of Publication 17 and %26quot;what's new for 2008 on page1 and %26quot;what's new for 2009%26quot; on page 2 - of course there are a number of new things that have happened since last year's pub 17 was issued..
What are the major changes in tax law for 2008?
IRS Pub 17 is your %26quot;bible%26quot; for everything taxes at the Federal level. In fact, it's the pub that most books are based upon. It's not copyrighted so many publishers shamelessly and legally copy it with their own name on the masthead. Some add value with better examples or explanations while others are simple re-branded copies of Pub 17.
you are reentering the Accounting field and want to know about the tax changes? seems rather odd to me
however, there are lots of tax seminars all across the country, to name one called Brass Tax, and there are many societies and organizations that continue presenting education to keep tax preparers up to date
if you are in Calif. the www.cstcsociety.org is a good place to look and each of the chapters have their own education agendas, which at this point is about to end--with Nov. meetings
In CAlif renewal REGISTRATTION with the Calif. Tax Education Council is about the reach its deadline too, Oct. 31.
that would be www.ctec.org
