I have several college credits in social work and mental health, as well as science ( changed major to Nursing at one point),I would like to pursue a nursing degree. What would be best at this point? oh,yeah I'm in Chicago. Will any legit nursing programs accept me?

That depends on what the Nursing school requires. you might be able to use your earlier courses as electives, but you cannot take chances. Go on line to the college you want to go to and find out what their requirements are for the nursing program.
Each nursing program may require different things, so saying yu are in Chicago means nothing
