I have been working on a degree in IT. I really want to change it but non of my credits will transfer. I love writing and want to major in English. However, the main reason I am not sure is because I have a record from when I was younger. I could never get a job teaching so most of the field seems out of reach. I got in a few fights in the past and really messed this guy up bad (like in hospital for some time). Beat him the head with brass knuckles on. So aggravated assault with a deadly weapon will never allow me to teach anyone. You know now I still find it hard to really believe I lived the life I did. I don't even know that person I was anymore as if that whole side died long ago. Anyway, is their any job an English major could have with a record? Suggestions are welcome LOL =P
Changing major not sure?
Teaching is not the only thing you can do with an English major. Companies are looking for people with diverse backgrounds. You see folks with English majors working in financial consulting companies, lawyers, etc. You can also do the traditional thing and pursue journalism, editing, etc.
The thing that will hold you back is your past criminal record. Not unless these happened as a child, they will stay with you for the rest of your life.
