Changing major to biochemistry?

I am in a university student in California, and my major was clinical laboratory science and I also have a minor in chemistry. I was hoping to work as a lab technician/scientist. But because of budget cuts, the major is no longer available. I am thinking to change to biochemistry. What are some jobs offered in biochemistry if I only get my BS? As of right now, I can't afford grad school, so I'd like to know what kind of job I can get with a bachelor degree in biochemistry?

I have also been considering biology with a concentration in physiology, but I know the chances are little to find a job with that, since it is purposed to prepare you to med school.

Have you used this site? http://www.topusajobs.com/cgi/search.cgi

It lists jobs in California (currently) in biochemistry. The first one that came up has the following education requirement: %26quot;Typically requires a B.S. in biophysics chemistry, biochemistry, or biology with 5+ years of relevant experience or M.S. Degree in related field with 4 + years of applicable experience.%26quot;

Yes, it requires a M.S. OR 5+years of %26quot;relevant experience%26quot;. I suggest trying to get involved in a co-op program, which might help count towards your %26quot;relevant experience%26quot;.
