What were three major changes in the US in the late 19th century?

This is for a history paper that I need help with. Anyone mind throwing out a few ideas?
What were three major changes in the US in the late 19th century?
1) On May 10, 1869, the Central and Union Pacific Railroads were linked, finishing the transcontinental railroad, which connected the US from the Atlantic Coast to the Pacific Coast. This led to faster and easier travel, communication, and transportation of goods.

2) January 1, 1863--President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which abolished slavery in the United States. This freed 3 million slaves from backbreaking work. This caused a rush to work in factories, where jobs were easier to find. MAny slave owners were upset because of the lost of profit that would result. Slaves did not know how to live after being a slave all their lives.

3) African Americans were granted suffrage, or the right to vote in 1870. This caused presedential campaigners to have to adjust their campainghn to also sway African Americans, and change the American voting system forever.
