Will changing my major increase my chances of acceptance?

Hey, and thanks for reading.

I applied to Texas A%26amp;M University a while ago for their Computer Science. However, I only have 1 SAT score under my belt (1580) and I didn't make the engineering college's math requirement (550 min, and I got 540 on my first/only SAT).

I was wondering if changing my major to Physics in the College of Science will help me get admitted. Also, will I be able to change majors during another semester or whatever?

im not sure that i am following your math on the SATs. 1580 is a great score, best you can do is 1600, which means that each the math and english parts can get 800 each. if you got 540 on the math, and even if you aced the english part wouldnt that be 1340. dont know much about texas a and m, so can t help you there, just saying that i think something is wrong with the way you cited your scores.

Probably. But it might be tougher to make it into the school of engineering (or whatever it's called) once you're enrolled. Institutions usually lower the requirements a little bit for incoming students so that they weed out the students that might now be cut out or aren't really serious about the program. Then there are students who, in your case, will have proven themselves with a strong GPA in the frosh year to prove that they are serious about / cut out for the program.

Really though, this is a question for somebody from admissions. That's why they hire these folks. Just give somebody a call or shoot somebody an e-mail -- it's their job. If anything, it will help that you're showing initiative.
