I planned to become a nurse and wrote that I wanted nursing as my major. I am finishing High school and they said that the number of applicants for the Nursing major is full, and that I need to pick another major for admission.
if i choose a major that isn't nursing, for example like English Major, in the future would I be able to switch it into nursing once i am done with the pre requisites for it?
Changing major, need information?
i'm sure of it. most likely there will be a lot of drop outs from nursing b/c it's a pretty tough major (but not as tough as med school, it's the WORST).
you should take a semester of english or better yet something science related (like biology or chemistry). with a science major you won't be behind b/c you'll be taking some of the courses that are required for nursing as well.
so yea just do something else for a semester (or a year, you're choice) then switch back to nursing as soon as you can. best of luck!
Changing major, need information?
if you go into health science, you can still take classes required for a nurse. you can actually become a nurse or other occupations if you major in this field.
That doesn't makes since (the part about changing to English so that you can easily transfer into Nursing). You should major in a Science-related field such as Biology or Chemistry, that way when you change majors to Nursing, you would have already taken your pre-reqs.
You can change your major at anytime... they're aren't any restrictions against that. However, since you are planning on changing it to nursing I would recommend majoring in a more relevant field. For example, biology, chemistry, etc. This will help you to get your pre-req's for nursing because it will cover the scientific classes you will have to take in order to be a nurse. If you're interested in English too though, go ahead and major in it. You might end up deciding to pursue something in that field rather than nursing. I would also suggest that you look at other schools that offer a nursing degree and would be able to accept you into their program sooner. You never know what the future is going to bring.. so don't worry too much, just be prepared to change your mind about things. Best wishes to you!
